With the major stock market declines in US, Europe, Singapore and across Asia recently is it time to be investing in gold?

Worried about the debt ceiling in the United States, Standard & Poor's downgrade of US debt on 5 August 2011, possible US double dip recession in future and perhaps the whole wobbly global economy?
